How to get to Óbidos

The village of Óbidos enjoys a privileged location in the Centre of Portugal and it’s served by various means of transport.

FROM LISBON

By car: Take the highway A8 , direction Leiria for about 80 km. Exit at Óbidos sign.
Alternatively, follow the A1, direction Porto, Exit at Aveiras-de-Cima, and follow the direction Caldas da Rainha. In Caldas da Rainha continue to Óbidos.

By Bus: There are regular connections between Lisbon and Óbidos. Consult www.rodotejo.pt

By Train: There is a train connection between Lisbon and Óbidos. Óbidos Train Station is not central, taking about 20 minutes to reach the village, so it may not be the best option if you come loaded. For more information consult www.cp.pt

FROM PORTO

By car: Take the highway A1 direction Lisboa. In Leiria get out of the highway where it says A8 - Lisba. After 5E km exit at Óbidos sign.

By Bus: There are no direct buses between Porto and Óbidos. You will have to go from Porto to Caldas da Rainha (about 4.30 h). In Caldas da Rainha there are regular connections to Óbidos (takes 15 minutes). Consult www.rede-expressos.pt and www.rodotejo.pt for more information.

By Train: There are a few daily connections between Porto and Óbidos. Unfortunatelu they are not direct, so you have to change trains 2 times. The trip lasts about 5 hours. Óbidos Train Station is not central, taking about 20 minutes to reach the village, so it may not be the best option if you come loaded. For more information consult www.cp.pt

How to get to Casa S. Thiago do Castelo

Casa S, Thiago do Castelo is located within the walls of Óbidos Village, in Largo de São Tiago, next to São Tiago Church / Bookstore, next to the Castle.

Although we don´t have private parking, there is a public parking nearby, which usually has available spaces. You can enter the village by Cerca do Castelo (see map below) and park next to the house. We will give you a badge to put on the car window during your stay. If it is not possible to park near our house, it is always possible to unload your bags next to it and park in the public parkings outside the walls, near Porta da Vila. (the main entrance of the village).
